Setting Goals

I am an unmotivated, yet ambitious person. The list of things I want to do goes on and on and on…

Currently my list includes:

  1. be super mom (ie: the best mom I can be)
  2. eat healthfully
  3. go walking more often
  4. make homemade cloths for Ginny
  5. try a new type of food
  6. make soap
  7. buy a house
  8. declutter our stuff
  9. cook something from every cookbook I own
  10. blog often
  11. make my own laundry detergent
  12. get my ring sized
  13. give up sugar for at least a week
  14. read and/or donate every book in the house
  15. go hiking
  16. visit a new state
  17. have family night
  18. be a thankful person
  19. decorate for the holidays
  20. institute a regular game night
  21. go camping
  22. make a “tie chair”
  23. start a postage stamp quilt
  24. give more home & hand made gifts
  25. use coupons
  26. make a 72-hour kit
  27. go to NYC
  28. own a piano
  29. lose weight
  30. learn to use my camera
  31. connect with nature
  32. keep up with the laundry
  33. go to a lake
  34. make a yearbook for Ginny
  35. only buy things I love
  36. play more board games
  37. take at least 1 day-trip a month
  38. use a calender
  39. finish the stuffed butterfly toys
  40. get a house plant
  41. read the newspaper
  42. learn a new crochet stitch
  43. re-cover the glider
  44. create a schedule
  45. decorate the way I really want to
  46. continue my eclectic dish collection
  47. blog authentically
  48. learn to follow a sewing pattern
  49. figure out my make-up “style”
  50. follow the declutter calender
  51. frequent the library
  52. spend time doing things others enjoy
  53. keep up with Ginny’s monthly pictures
  54. get life insurance
  55. start a college fund…

  1. I love making lists of goals, etc.: it makes me feel productive (without the trouble of actually doing stuff, haha). I have a 101 in 1001 list which I refer to pretty regularly, 3 new year's resolutions, and six goals I'm supposed to hit daily (they don't change, being things like exercise, clean the house, etc.). I don't have a list like this one though: maybe a future project?

    1. I love making lists too. Especially ones that involve doodling! Lots of people have mentioned the 101 in 1001 – the thing is… this list is kind of like a continually evolving project that I add to and remove from each year. So… some of these things are the same as last year, and some of them are new endeavors, and some things I didn't finish from last year just got removed.

  2. I'm going to write a post soon about the homemade laundry detergent I have been using now for about a month. I'd be interested in if you tried the the same recipe what your results would be!

    Also, I think I can help you out on that NYC trip πŸ˜‰ I love the city and have slowly been collecting my favorite places to eat (I have three now). But we'd have to do like a three day weekend in order to properly do it!

    I have a 101 in 1001 list that I also check on a regular basis. But I think I'm going to actually asign some of the goals months.

    1. That's would be fun. I think our trip to NYC is going to wait until we are done breastfeeding – as least. So it probably won't be until the end of the year.

  3. Same as above, I have a 101 in 1001 list. I makes it seem a little more achievable to have 3 years to go through the list as some things are harder to do right away. NYC is on my list but who knows when that will happen. And I've pretty much unofficially added running a marathon to it.

    1. NYV has been on my list since I got married. I went there in college, but it wasn't really a vacation, so I want to go back and actually enjoy the city and the museums and such.

  4. I made my own laundry detergent about a month ago, and it is fantastic! SO much cheaper and it seems to get sweat/deodorant stains out a lot better, too! πŸ™‚

  5. zaang!! you really covered the whole spectrum!!! i have only really gotten my project list done… the problem is i keep adding to it :/ hehe "read the newspaper" reminds me of a brian regan joke haha

  6. Our New Year's Resolution is to declutter/redo one room in the house per weekend. We got the Dining room finished in one weekend – decluttered and actually hung pictures! We need to do some touch up paint and I think I want to add lamp shades to the light fixture. It has taken us a little longer to get the family room done. Lots of toy sorting and electronic stuff to go through. But we are making a dent!

    1. That's a good idea. we usually reserve the weekend for folding all of the laundry I wash during the week. We pop in a movie and get folding!
