Hopping on the bandwagon.

Did you know that I respond to every comment posted on my blog? It may take me a while ( I try to avoid contrite responses), but if you ask a question or suggest something – I definitely consider it and respond!

Tonight my in-laws are coming over for dinner. I need to go to the grocery store and buy more chicken because the chicken I bought just last week went bad really quickly and made the whole fridge smell AWFUL! Unfortunately it took a bit of nose-investigating to figure out the smelly culprit.

I have started looking at carb numbers of foods and have decided it might be easier to just give up eating. No word back from the grumpy GD office lady as to when my first appointment will be.

This meme seems really popular, so I’m sharing.

Short update

I still haven’t gotten the Jeep fixed.

BECAUSE… I haven’t called around to get estimates.

It also needs new tires.

*

I really love That 70′s Show. It makes me laugh.

And the Big Bang Theory

And Community.

*

I’m going over to my parents’ tonight to show my siblings how to make

chicken nuggets that taste just like the chik-fil-a version.

Yum.

*

I have been uber tired lately.

Which is why… I don’t get much done.

Except watching That 70′s Show.

Four episodes come on, right in a row, from 3 -5 on ABC family.

Love.

23 Things…

Remember when I made this list? And then I accomplished my first list item? Well, I haven’t been so good about documenting it, but if any one remembers my efforts to cross off “make bread” and my… fail… I have successfully rectified the situation!

Yup, that is the loaf of homemade bread sitting in my kitchen. It is considerably smaller now.

I have also crossed a few other things off of my list:

So I have…

  1. Read a book. I read “Food Rules” and now I am working on “In Defense of Food” and “The Omnivore’s Dilema.” I guess I’ve caught the reading bug.
  2. Our trip to Nashville last Easter.
  3. B-man and I took a weekend getaway to Mississippi for a wedding, sans the puppies.
  4. I’ve made bread from scratch!
  5. Successfully cooked beef for dinner… a few times!
  6. And while my dishes collection is not complete, it is definitely off the floor!

So…  6/23 things… lol. I have a ways to go!

To-Do

Things I need to do…

  1. Take bike to shop, get gears fixed… again.
  2. Buy a food scale.
  3. Menu for Game Night.
    1. Peppercorn Pork Tenderloin
    2. Grilled Asparagus
    3. Corn on the cob, chipotle butter
    4. Ciabatta bread w/ spiced olive oil
    5. dessert… cake…?
  4. Take car of giant pile of stuff in the living room…
  5. Clean the bathroom, sweep, swiffer
  6. Dishes
  7. Laundry
  8. Vacuum the house.
  9. Make the bed
  10. Clean off desk
  11. Power Point slides for Religious studies.
  12. Read “Things Fall Apart”

And that is all I can think of right now. I think I did well on my quiz in history today. He let those with the papers, or computers, pull out the articles, and use them as references to the essay quiz, which was nice. I got an A- on the last quiz, so hopefully I do just as well, if not better. As soon as class is don I am going to take my bike to the shop, and then go to the store, pick up a few more things for the dinner tomorrow.

I’m a bit stressed right now because I parked in this area, just off campus, and it does NOT have any “no parking signs” – and it also does not have any meters. Since I have my bike I didn’t mind parking so far away, because I could just ride my bike from the car to class, especially nice since I needed to take my bike any way. Campus is half way between home and the bike shop, so I was trying to save a little gas – but it would be so easy to just steal a bike off the back of a car, since the rack can’t be locked to my car.

Since I didn’t ride my bike to campus though, I am only going to get 2 miles in. If the bike gets fixed while I am off doing my bit of shopping, I think I will go on a ride when I get home. I’m not sure where I would go, but if all of my gears are working, I could pretty much go any where. I am kind of bummed that B-man doesn’t have a bike though, because we could go together. I am seriously considering hopping on Craigslist and just finding him one!

Creating a list.

At times, I really love who I am. And not really me – as in “Oh, I am a fabulous person!” but more like “I have an amazing life.” I really love my life. I love my husband, and my dogs, and all of the amazing blessings that have rained down on me over the past two years. I am sitting here, still wondering how all of this evolved from a hesitant kiss just over two years ago. It’s kind of incredible.

I have the life I always wanted, but I am not the person I want to be. I do have a list of 23 things I want to accomplish this year. But I want to maybe look at things a little bit different. Things I dislike about myself, that are keeping me from being the amazing person I could be, or habits that I wish I had. I want to work on attributes that I wish I had, and do things that I don’t particularly love right now – but wish I did. I don’t know if that makes sense. But it will once I get up the gumption to actually make this list. In the meantime… I’m going to go watch a movie. And yes – taking time for myself will be on the list. :)

Happy Friday!

A reflection of my week:

It feels like just a few days I was buying stuff for our S.O.D.A. party, and now it’s already been a whole week! What have I accomplished this week? Well… it doesn’t feel like a lot, to be honest.

  1. Test in Language Development
  2. Paper on Islam
  3. Went to McClung Museum
  4. Volunteered for 9 hours this week.
  5. Made my own buffalo chicken boneless wings. We also had rice… I love rice!
  6. Made dinner (almost) every night of the week.
  7. Finished my website.
  8. History Quiz.
  9. Found my notes from World Religions. I guess that’s what I get for not taking my notebook to class — I had to use a page from my calender.
  10. Laundry
  11. Vacuuming
  12. Grew a Garden. This is still in progress.
  13. Ate my most favorite food in the whole entire world.

There is probably a reason I gained so much weight after I got married… and I may have to blame these. Do you know what these are?

FRIED PICKLES

I know – what kind of person on a diet would eat these? Me. lol. I had done perfectly for two weeks. I was worried my stomach might forget what these babies tasted like. I’m not in any rush to eat them again, since they really did mess with my digestive track.

It was so worth it.

Something crazy.

School has been something crazy lately.

And when I say that, it is with the best southern accent I have and there is no “g” on the end of something.

In the next hour I am going to post a food blog, and a garden blog, but right now I just want to talk about life.

As I was saying, school. I’m almost done with this semester! Next week is the last week of classes, and then after that is a few finals and then we’re off to enjoy the first part of my summer break! I am so excited for all of the traveling and visiting that we are going to be doing.

I think this week I had/have a lot to do. I’ve already finished and turned in two projects, and I still have a paper to write to turn in on Thursday. I haven’t completely read the book, but I already know what I am going to write about. Here’s what the rest of my week looks like:

  1. Internship application (make video)
  2. Prince of Slaves paper for World Religions
  3. Quiz for Western Civilization
  4. Volunteer  TSD
  5. Write Extra Credit Papers
  6. Mail birthday presents
  7. Mail VA state taxes
  8. Clean

Yeah… cleaning is always on the list. I am disappointed in my self for not blogging the last two days, but B-man recently got me hooked-on-Heroes. I am not a big TV watcher, and I have been avoiding this show from the get-go. It’s just a little too tense for me. Even now, on some scenes, I just say “This seems like a good time to check my e-mail, no need to pause!” and I get out of there, because my poor little heart can’t stand the anxiety.

Speaking of my heart – it’s actually in really good condition. I visited the Walgreen’s Wellness Center Tour today, and had my blodd pressure, bone density, cholesterol, and a bunch of other things checked out. The only measurements that were wacky were related to my weight, and I already knew that. But apparently I have great bone density, and perfect cholesterol, and good blood pressure. If you haven’t heard of it, this program is free, and it’s kind of nifty to know this information, and it only took 15 minutes! I also got a free membership to AARP. Umm… know any one over 50 who is not an AARP member already?

Lastly, I changed the layout of my blog again. I like the other one, but I thought it was kind of confusing, and I couldn’t figure out how to customize the header and colors. The php and stylesheet were just ridiculous. So, this one is cute, and I like the yellow.

The End.

|P Words.

I don’t consider myself to be an overly wordy person. That doesn’t mean I don’t talk… a lot. It means I tend to try and post a picture for every few sentences I type.

But I want to talk about things that don’t always have pictures to go with them. I am going to be doing some back posting. I would like to post about
  • growing up
  • moving
  • dating
  • heart break
  • how I started dating my now husband
  • getting engaged
  • planning the wedding
  • getting married
  • my family
  • my education
  • my life plans
  • my fears
  • my thought and opinions on music, religion, and culture.
While most of these have pictures, they are going to be rather wordy posts. I say this because it’s something I have been thinking about a lot. A lot. Some people have whole pages of their website dedicated to blog posts that cover portions of their lives, like “The wedding” and “My cooking” or “My photography.”
I am thinking about transitioning this over to my website, and then sorting posts into categories. Who knows. It’s a rather ambitious undertaking. Regardless, I think the first thing I will do it write the posts. lol.
Is there anything I should add to my list?
